Good Morning Hunter Families, this is David Newkirk with the latest updates and happenings at Hunter Elementary.
This week we say goodbye to Mrs. Jennifer Clark and Ms. Chanin Lacy. Mrs. Clark is moving to the High Point area to be closer to her family and Ms. Lacy has accepted a position as an Assistant Principal at Daniels Middle School. We wish them the best, but we understand that we have a large void to fill. I will hold a parent sit and speak session Wednesday afternoon to give parents an opportunity to provide direct feedback and keep dialogue open as far as the process of replacing these staff members. Parents with other concerns are welcome to come and address any concerns or suggestions you might have. I hope to make this a regular meeting for the school community to provide input into the direction of our school.
On a more positive note, Literacy Night is Thursday evening beginning at 5:30 PM. On Monday October 18,District 4 school board member Keith Sutton will speak to all interested Hunter families in regards to the proposed student assignment plan and the direction of the school board. These policies will impact all Hunter families and we invite the entire school community to Martin St. Baptist Church at 6:00 PM October 18. You will receive a flyer in the Monday folder with more details.
Parents who did not beat the October 8 deadline for volunteer registration will still have opportunities to register later in the year. The volunteer system will re-open in December and again in March. If you need clearance before then, send a note to your teacher and I will manually enter you into the system.
Finally, we are still accepting Literacy bags for the Make a Difference day sponsored by the Wake County Schools. You received information about Make a Difference in last week’s Monday folder.
Enjoy the beautiful Autumn weather and I hope to see you at school during the week.
