Hunter Hospitalilty News

April 8th is our last teacher luncheon this year for our wonderful teachers and staff at Hunter. We will be having Trivia Night during this luncheon and we are looking for donations of gift cards for prizes. If you could donate a gift card, we would really appreciate it. We are looking for all kinds of cards: restaurants, movie theaters, bowling, wal-mart, target, plain visa/mc, etc in any denomination. Please send your donations in an envelope marked Traci Jewell to Ms. Jill Hemingway’s (the 4th grade Hemingway) classroom, room 205 by April 4th.

Thank you for all you do for our school,
Traci Jewell

PTA Update

On March 1st a PTA meeting was held where a new WCPSS technology initiative was presented. WCPSS is now endorsing the use of interactive projectors (BENQ’s) in place of the more expensive interactive white boards i.e. SmartBoards. This new technology option was pressented to the membership as way to integrate interactive technology in as many Hunter classrooms as is possible. The lower cost, but duplicate functionality of the projectors will let the PTA purchase 13 BENQ’s for the same cost as 5 SmartBoards as was previously voted on. This purchase will allow the PTA to place BENQ’s in every 2nd grade and 1st grade classroom. In addition, BENQ’s will be purchased for the media center, the Band classroom and the Orchestra classroom. A motion was made, and passed, to revisit the PTA budget at the end of the year to see if there are additional monies to purchase 4 additonal BENQ’s and place them in the Kindergarten classrooms. This would enable every child at Hunter to use interactive technology from the first day they arrive at Hunter. This is an exciting developement in the PTA’s efforts to improve the learning experience of every child at Hunter!
