Media Specialists: Ms. Carron Carter and Ms. Diane Moore
Hours: The Hunter Media Center is open 8:45 - 3:30
Monday - Friday. Students may check out books any day during Open Circulation times in the morning: 8:45-9:15, and any other times teachers may allow students to come to the media center.
Classes are scheduled at various times during the day, but our staff will be available to assist students, teachers, and parents whenever possible during the school day.
Borrowing Policies: Kindergarten students may check out one book for one week . First and second graders may check out two books at a time, also for a week. Third - fifth grades may have 3 books at a time, and are allowed to choose a magazine to check out instead of a book. These students have a two week check out. All items may be renewed for additional weeks, if needed.
Overdue notices are sent home in Monday folders, every other week. We do not enforce library fines, but do encourage students to return items on time. Damaged and lost books should be paid for so that replacements may be purchased.
Volunteers: The Media Center can always use parent volunteer help. Please check with our parent coordinator: Ms. Debbie King, if you are interested. Her phone number is: 870-7737.
We are excited to announce our new web based catalog system which can be used at home. The catalog can be accessed through the Internet at http://destiny.wcpss.net. We recommend that you add this website to your list of favorites. It is easy to use. Once you access the site, click on Hunter in the alphabetical listing of schools. You can search our book collection by clicking on "Library Search" on the left side of the screen. Another exciting and useful feature for home use is the "Webpath Express", also on the left. This feature allows you to help your child to search the Internet for valid, reliable, and safe educational websites. These features are free for your family to use! You do not need logins for this system.
Our on-line resources are listed on the Hunter Elementary School page. You can access family friendly search engines, encyclopedia and reference websites, as well as connect to the Wake County Public Library website.
We are happy to assist you or your students. Do feel free to contact us through the school office should you have a question or request.
