Jump For Fun II Elective Requirements

PE Electives

Physical Education at Hunter Elementary is provided through both the specials and the electives program.

Through the specials prgram, K-2 classes are served on a weekly rotating basis in the fall. In the spring the classes come on Magnet Down days. 3-5 classes are served on a schedule of 11 Phys. Ed. classes in a three week period, which they receive twice a year. The specials Phys. Ed. program encompasses the NC Healthy Living curriculum with the focus on health and fitness. Students receive a well rounded focus in many sports and activities, working on gross and fine motor skills as well as group interaction.

The elective Phys. Ed. program at Hunter is much more specific with the activites involved, especially in the older grades. The electives meet four days a week and can be as focused as "Racquet Sports", or as broad as "Lifetime Sports."

The Phys. Ed. department puts on four schoolwide activities a year. In the fall, each grade level competes in the Hunter Olympics. In the winter, there is line dancing for each grade. The springtime brings out parents and students for our Jump In! jump rope event. At the end of the school year we have a schoolwide field day.

The Physical Education program at Hunter is lead by Coach Chad Oliver.
