In the classrooms...
Last week we celebrated the 100th day of school! In the lower grades students brought in 100 items and made estimates of items and completed other activities centered on the number 100. This type of authentic learning encourages students to become more engaged in their learning because there is purpose. Throughout Hunter GT Magnet Elementary students are engaged in authentic learning activities that require students to evaluate information and apply knowledge and skills.
In the upper grades students are exploring simple and compound machines by making self propelled vehicles. Students must evaluate the effect of each design change and infer the impact of the change. This is the type of learning required of the real world and it gives students the confidence and resiliency to succeed at any task. These types of learning activities separate Hunter GT/AG Basics Magnet from our base schools and gives students a unique educational experience.
