Hello Hunter Parents! We are off an running with another successful school year. There have been three Open Houses and one more to go...Kindergarten is next Tuesday, Sept. 21st from 6 - 7. We are starting off each of the Open Houses with a QUICK PTA meeting in the Media Center, where parents get a chance to hear about the PTA objectives and events planned for the 2010 - 2011 year.
I always feel like this is the first true week of school at Hunter. Our Kindergarteners “stagger” in over the course of week and a couple of days, the upper grades usually start the year in the middle of a week, then we are off for Labor Day and electives did not start until this week...so NOW it feels like school is really starting. I am thankful for the school year beginning in a series of fits and starts, as it lets all of us busy parents ease back into a routine of early mornings, packing lunches, catching the bus or getting in the carpool lane, doing afternoon homework, getting to sports practices and (hopefully!) all sitting down together for a family dinner as schedules allow. After the relaxing pace of summer, it takes a little while to get back into the swing of things when fall comes!
UPCOMING EVENTS -
The REACH FOR THE STARS fall phantom fundraiser begins on September 17th. This is the most important fundraiser of the year and the success of the PTA will depend on each of YOU! Please consider making a contribution to the Hunter PTA...we need your support!!!
Also in September is the annual Radical Readers Assembly on September 24th. If you have not gotten your child’s reading log sheet turned in, please send it in as soon as possible, so they can be rewarded for all their reading hours over the summer, the deadline is Friday September 17th. Times for the Radical Reader Assemblies are posted on the website (under the Radical Reader Link) and parents are invited and encouraged to attend.
REMINDERS -
If you have not joined PTA (it is only $5.00!), please get a membership form from the front office and leave your completed form and money in the PTA box in the front office...thank you for joining!!!
If you are a PTA parent volunteer, working in your child’s class room, in the office or elsewhere at school, please send your name to GIna Flynn, ginaflynn@nc.rr.com and she will make you a permanent name tag that will be kept in the box at the security desk. This helps save paper lables, which can get expensive.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns or comments...I am here to serve you!
Have a GREAT week!
