PTA
A Message from The PTA President
Dear Parents,
Welcome to all new and returning Hunter families. The PTA is ready to go with a great year and hopes that you will choose to become a member of our organization. Our Hunter PTA chapter is very active and works hard to support all of our students as well as our incredible teachers and school staff. We need every family to join us.
PTA is:
• A powerful voice for all children,
• A relevant resource for families and communities, and
• A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
Parent involvement has been proven to play a key role in the success of all the students in a school. Please take the opportunity this year to get involved in some way at Hunter Elementary. Consider working in the classroom, joining one of our many PTA committees or simply having lunch with your child in the cafeteria every now and then.
I ask that each parent try to attend at least one PTA meeting during the 2008-09 school year. Come see what is happening at your school. This year we will meet only every other month—a change from our practice in recent years. Our first meeting for 2008-09 will be Tuesday, September 2 at 9:15 am in the Media Center. We will meet again on Wednesday, November 5 at 7:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars.
Hunter Elementary programs are supported through PTA fundraising efforts. Last year’s Reach for the Stars fundraiser was one of our most successful and enabled us to provide many additional resources to enhance the learning environment at Hunter. As schools are challenged to do more with less, please remember that the financial support our PTA provides makes a tremendous difference. Help us continue to generously support the programs that make Hunter Elementary such a special place.
I look forward to working with each of you to make this a great year!
Terry Halloran
2008-2009 PTA President
